As a group it was decided to give the school emblem another dimension. The original design was spray-painted onto a ‘canvas’ that had been constructed by casting everyday school objects in plaster.
In weekly workshops, students selected and collected items that represented all subject matters that, together, formed an interesting and eclectic mix. Introducing the pupils to working with plaster, a series of 12 tiles were gradually produced using the process of casting. The group imprinted the objects into clay, before pouring in the plaster.
Throughout the sessions the collected items began to form an impressive list. (812 to be precise..ish – so see if you can spot…)
